Eccentric Hollywood actor, Charlie Sheen, has finally come
out to confirm the rumours flying around that he is indeed HIV positive. He
has been positive for four years now.
Sheen, who had been married and divorced multiple times, stated that despite rumours to the contrary, he had always informed each of his sexual partner about his HIV status and that it was "impossible" he transmitted the virus to others. He did acknowledge that he's had unprotected sex with two people since being diagnosed with HIV, but those individuals "were under the care of my doctor" and were warned beforehand.
Sheen said he had himself to blame for his behaviour, which included having sex with prostitutes. He claimed however that unlike some others who come in contact with HIV, he never used needles while doing drugs.
While saying he expects to be hit with numerous lawsuits after this disclosure by people who will claim he exposed them to HIV, the actor said he is coming out to talk about it now so that it may "help a lot of other people, and others may come forward."
His doctor, Dr. Robert Huizenga, who was also on the show, stressed that "Charlie does not have AIDS", he only has an "undetectable" degree of HIV which would be "incredibly rare" to pass on to others.
