Let me start this story by saying this:
Never give up on
your dreams; no matter how crazy or unrealistic they might seem at the time. Some day, they would come true. And when they do, it would come as a shocker to even you, yourself.
The story of how Issa Hayatou became the President of the International federation of football association, FIFA, is a
testament to this.
You see, in 2002, this humble Cameronian, who was merely the
president of Africa’s football governing body (CAF), aspired to become FIFA’s
president so bad that he bravely ran against his mentor
at holding on tight to power for multiple years and 'unbeatable' Mr. FIFA himself, Sepp Blatter. Well, long story short, there was no victorious David ending to his David & Goliath story
as he lost woefully at the elections. After that, he 'gave himself
brain' and understood that 'power pass power'.
Fast forward to Thursday, 8th of Oct 2015, thirteen
years and several corruption charges after, Hayatou’s over-reaching dream finally come true! Even if it's on a temporary basis, it’s still a dream come true.
