Black stars of Ghana and Swansea winger, Andre Ayew has
edged out stiff opposition from fellow Swansea teammate, Bafetimbi Gomis,
Leicester city’s forward, Riyad Mahrez, Manchester City’s duo of David Silva
and Aleksandar Kolarov and Manchester United’s centre back, Chris Smalling, to
emerge as the EPL player of the month for August.
The 25 year old son of Ghanaian football legend, Abedi Pele,
moved to Swansea on a free transfer from French side, Marseille in the summer
and has already been impactful in the opening four games of the new season. He
has scored three goals in these four matches despite the fact that he comes in
as a substitute. Two of those goals – against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and
the winning goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford – have been
instrumental to Swansea third position standing on the league table.
For the managers category, Manuel Pellegrini beat off
competition from Gary Monk, Claudio Ranieri and Alan Pardew to become the
August 2015 EPL manager of the month. This is comes as no surprise as
Pellegrini has led his Manchester City side to the perfect start for the season
by gaining maximum points in the four matches played so far; scoring ten goals
without conceding none.
Congratulations to both of them, especially to our Ghanaian jollof brother, Andre Ayew.
