Chelsea football club’s first choice goalkeeper Thibaut
Courtois has picked up an injury in his ankle region and he's likely to be away for two months.
This is the last thing the already troubled defending
champions need after losing two, drawing one and winning just one game out of
their opening four fixtures; garnering a paltry four points out of a
possible twelve points. This leaves the
London side at a shocking 13th position after four games and a
staggering eight points behind league toppers and bitter rivals, Manchester
City.

Courtois would miss Chelsea’s clash against Everton this weekend

The Jose-Mourinho tutored side has been troubled by one
calamity after the other since the start of the season and a dip in the form of
their star players has not helped matters. The signing of ex-Barcelona forward,
Pedro brought a resurgence to the
forward line in their last game against crystal Palace but a leaky defence line
ensured that the Blues were still beaten by two goals to one.
A staunch defensive wall has always been the hallmark of
Chelsea especially under charismatic gaffer, Mourinho. But this has seemed to
change this season with the defence already conceding nine goals in four
matches. The problem has been blamed on different reasons ranging from ageing
players, dip in form, inadequate defenders to inexperience and Chelsea’s failed
attempts to sign Everton’s defender John Stones did not help issues.
With all these defensive troubles, being without their
number one goal keeper, Thibaut Courtois, who helped the team to the English
title last season with his game-winning goal keeping prowess, is definitely an
unwanted headache.
Manager, Jose Mourinho and fans of the club would be praying
he quickly recovers soon and hopefully, second goalkeeper, Asmir Begovic fills in well in
his absence.
