The Federal Government has declared Monday, May 2nd, as public holiday due to the Workers day falling on a weekend.
Workers' Day celebration is usually on May 1st falls on Sunday this year and once a public holiday falls on weekend, the following week day is usually declared work free.
The Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, made the declaration in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Bassey Akpanyung, on Thursday in Abuja.
While congratulating Nigerian workers for their resilience, hard work and commitment to
President Buhari's change agenda despite current challenges, he also enjoined them to continue supporting the President in his fight against corruption, ensure security of lives and property and stabilise the economy through creation of jobs and diversification of the economy.
The minister urged workers to re-dedicate themselves to the service of the nation and remain productive for the growth and development of the country.
