James Ocholi (SAN), the Minister of state for Labour and Productivity, his wife and son have all died in a ghastly road accident involving the car the family was travelling in along the Abuja - Kaduna road after a visit to Kaduna
Eye witness reports state that the accident happened when one of the tyres of the SUV the minister and his family were travelling in suddenly came off at full speed making the car to lose balance and somersault several times. Mr. Ocholi and his son died immediately while
his wife was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died moments later.
The Kaduna State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Francis Udoma, explained that the accident when the rear tyre of the Sports Utility Vehicle conveying them burst and the vehicle somersaulted several times.
Udoma said, “The rear tyre bursted and the vehicle, summersaulted. The minister and his son died on the spot, the wife died in the government hospital in Doka, Kaduna.
“The driver, the chief detail, the orderly and the Personal Assistant were injured.”

Meanwhile, President Buhari has reacted to the death of Mr. Ocholi describing it as untimely and regretted that Nigeria has lost a key component of the CHANGE agenda.

Ocholi was an accomplished and patriotic Nigerian, who was keen to
accept the call to service at a time his country needed him,” President
Buhari said, adding that in the few months he had been in office, the
late minister of state had already begun to distinguish himself through
his commitment and dedication to his portfolio.
“The entire country mourns the loss of this great man, who has sadly left us when we need him most,” he concluded.
Also, the governor of Kogi state where Mr. Ocholi hails from has declared a four days of mourning.
