This picture of Yoruba royal fathers "stooping" while politicians stand is causing outrage on Facebook |
This picture was taken at the recently concluded Ogun at 40 celebrations which was well attended by A-List Politicians, socialites, industrialists, academicians, and entertainers. President Buhari and former President Obasanjo were also in attendance.
The picture which shows the Yoruba royal fathers crouching while politicians such as Gbenga Daniel (former Ogun state Governor), Governor Ibikunle Amosun and others are standing gallantly behind them, has caused some outrage among some concerned Yorubas
on social media who claim it's sacrilege for Obas to "stoop" while politicians stand.
A facebook user, Olu Adegoke, posted the pic with the caption "Still on Desecration of Yoruba Culture and Tradition. Below is a picture of Yoruba Oba stooping before politicians; trivializing their crowns. Yoruba nation needs to call a meeting to address this mediocrity and constant mockery of a great tradition..."
However, some othe commenters argued that the royal fathers stooping in front are not real Obas but rather, mere Baales. Even at this, others still thought it was wrong.
What's your say?
