The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Nyesom Wike, as the Governor of Rivers State.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday, affirmed the result of the April 11
governorship election on Wednesday, while failing to state the reasons
for the judgment.
The court however promised to provide detailed reasons for the verdict on February 12.
The Rivers State Election Tribunal had nullified Wike’s
election late last year and the Court of Appeal had on December 16 reaffirmed the
decision.
The Supreme Court’s ruling means that Dakuku Peterside, the All Progressives Congress
candidate for the April 2015 gubernatorial elections, has finally lost his bid to unseat Wike as
governor of Rivers state.
