Adele returned to our lives in November 2015 with “Hello”
and every other musician stopped existing . News about Adele became the only thing
some people were obsessed with.
One particular story that surfaced some weeks ago was the
one about Adele snubbing Beyonce about doing a song together. According to the
story, Beyonce was desperately begging
Adele to do a song with her but Adele blatantly refused because she doesn’t
want Bey’s ''fame-mongering'' to rub off on her.
I can tell you in good faith that this story has officially
been declared false by no other than Adele herself.
In an interview with Beats
1, the Hello crooner expressly declared her distaste of the rumour. In her
words, “There’s a rumour going around that I tuned Beyonce down which I would
never be so disrespectful as to do. I’d never disrespect her like that.
Obviously, like, Queen Bey ‘til the day I
die.”
This comes as no surprise as it is not a hidden fact that
Adele is a long time fan of Beyonce. In 2011, she talked about how Beyonce
helped her overcome major anxiety in her career. “I was about to meet Beyonce
and I had a full-blown anxiety attack. Then she popped in looking gorgeous, and
said, ‘You’re amazing! When I listen to you I feel like I’m listening to God.’”
Adele even once called herself Sasha Carter.
So, rumour mongers, steer clear! If you wanted a
Beyonce-Adele duet so bad, why don’t y’all just say that directly instead of
using reverse psychology…
