Let me respond to her line "Why would he buy the car if he can test drive at will?" A woman has sex because she wants to have sex. The same way men have sexual needs is similar to the way women have sexual needs. If a man can do it, a woman can. We are human before any sex or gender we belong to.
What is the
big deal about virginity? Different people have expressed diverging, jarring
notions on this concept.
Truths and Myths about Virginity
that I have heard in my life from different people:
1. It’s
the gift a woman gives to her husband.
2. It
makes God answer your prayers faster
3. It
makes your husband cherish you
4. It
makes you a better woman
5. For
guys, it increases their bond to their wives
6. Only
women should be virgins
7. You
can add your take on it
Hahaha! Let’s reason it from the
first point: It’s the gift a woman gives her husband. Seriously? There are no
other gifts a woman can give her husband? I don't think a secure man would need
this wonderful “gift” from his wife. A man doesn’t need to validate his ego
based on “I had her first”. If you’re a man that feels better knowing that you “tapped”
it first, your insecurity level is high. There are many things a woman can give
you asides her virginity.
On to number two: It makes God
answer your prayers faster. Indeed! If you do anal, manual, and oral, Sister,
you’re not different from someone who has done the deed! If you sin other sins like
envy, avarice, (Read up Galatians 5: 19-21) you’re not different from other
Sisters doing it. If your heart is black like charcoal, it might stop God from
granting you your wishes. (Talking about God answering prayers, I think there
we humans have free will and there should be predestination. Topic for another
day)
Next up, number three: It makes
your husband cherish you. That is a lie that’s been told by a patriarchal
society that has sought to subjugate women since its inception. I know of
women who married as virgins and their husbands were abusive and didn’t cherish
them one teensy-weensy bit.
Number four says: It makes you a
better woman. How? If you’re lazy and waiting for one man to cater to your
needs but you’ve given him virginity, you’re on your own. You’re not a better
woman. You’re just a woman who have succeeded in living out her dreams.
(Different women have different priorities. Not every woman has child bearing on the top of her list. Not
every woman has self-actualisation on her list) I think men want someone they
can talk with. If you’re dumb, your husband might just get a gal outside who
will hold profound conversations with him.
It makes men bond with their
wives is number five. Seriously? If a dude is adventurous, he’ll always want to
try somewhere new. It doesn’t increase any bond. Except he has the fear of God.
Finally, number six: only women
should be virgins. Why should a woman be expected to be a virgin but a man isn’t.
By the way, sex is a normal bodily function. It’s like hunger, crapping,
moving... you remember MR. NIGER D? Characteristics of a living organism: Movement,
reproduction, nutrition, growth, excretion, respiration, irritation, and death.
God that made humans reproductive knew they were not going to rub two stones
together to make babies. He knew they would have sex. At what point in human
history did humans decide to make sex to be something depraved?
Look at lower animals. They have
sex when they want to, don't they? Is it a sin? We, humans, are animals. The difference
between humans and infrahumans (lower animals) is that we have cognition. We
can reason. A man can decide to control his lust. A woman can control her sexual urges.
Come to think of it: one of the
latent (not obvious) functions of the marriage institution is to check sexual promiscuity.
Despite entering the marriage institution, some people are still promiscuous.
I could go on and on.
Back to the koko, being a virgin
is a good thing. But, if one must do it, it should be born from an individual’s
conviction. Not what one pastor or imam or anybody told you. It’s your body and
God gave you the free will to do whatever you like with it. But then, if your free will doesn’t
tally with God’s laws, you will bear the brunt of it.
See? The concept of free will is
illusory. LOL.
