Don’t we all love October the First? Not just because it is
the anniversary of Nigeria’s independence from colonial rule, or because it is a
much-needed public holiday. But because, it is one of those rare times the President (or Head of State, as the case may be) gives the State of the Nation
address via broadcast media.
As far as I can remember, we all look forward to the morning
addresses of the president every October 1. The only other time we have such
luxury is democracy day (May 29) which also doubles as swearing-in day, in election
years.
This year, the tradition continues as President Muhammadu
Buhari would address the nation by 7am on Thursday october 1 – Independence Day .
Keep the time and do not over-sleep.
