A farmer, Lamidi
Adeyeye, was murdered by a yam thief, Dayo at Odogbede village, Ido Ani, in Ose
Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The deceased went to his farm at about 4 PM to bring home
some tubers he’d earlier harvested. On getting to his farm, he caught Dayo
reaping where he didn't sow; Dayo had stolen 10 tubers of yam from his (the
deceased) farm. The thief attacked when Adeyeye raised an alarm. He overpowered the farmer, cut him to death, and buried him.
When Adeyeye didn't return home later in the evening, his
wife alerted his neighbours. In turn, they organised a search party. Another villager
accused Dayo of the crime. A blood-stained cloth was discovered while searching
Dayo's house.
The police arrested three other men in connection to the
crime. Investigations are ongoing.
