The central government has responded to United State government's addition of Nigeria to a list of nations that abuse religious freedom.

It was detailed before that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the United States assigned Nigeria which is a US partner as a "Country of Particular Concern" under the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 for religious freedom, for participating in ''systematic, ongoing, egregious violations of religious freedom."
Anyway responding to this, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed demanded that Nigeria doesn't have an approach of religious persecution.
He portrayed the claim as an instance of fair difference between the two countries on the reasons for brutality in Nigeria, and furthermore contended that Nigeria enviously ensures strict opportunity as cherished in the nation's constitution and pays attention to any encroachments in such manner.
He said;
”Nigeria does not engage in religious freedom violation, neither does it have a policy of religious persecution. Victims of insecurity and terrorism in the country are adherents of Christianity, Islam and other religions."
