Anil Kapoor's iconic character Mr India has turned 33 today and the veteran star is ecstatic. Talking about how important the film proved to be in his career and narrating the story behind the conception of the song 'Zindagi ki yahi reet hai', Anil has revealed in his latest social media post an unknown incident from back then involving Kishore Kumar and Lakshmikant Pyarelal. He has also pointed out that the words of the song hold value in today's times as well, more than any other time. With a video of the beautiful melody, Anil Kapoor is celebrating 34 years of being 'obsessed with every detail' of Mr India.
Anil accompanied the video of the song with a long heartfelt post which read: "34 Years of Mr India
Mr India was & always will be a very important film for me. I remember even 34 years ago when we began the journey I became obsessed with every detail. From the time I heard the tune of ‘Zindagi Ki Yahi Reet Hai’ I could only imagine Kishore Da’s voice singing it. At the time, Kishore Kumar & Laxmikant Pyarelal did not want to work together. It took months to even get in touch with Kishore da. When I finally did, I went to Kishore Kumar’s residence & mediated their patch up...the end result was this beautiful melody which is so uplifting during these tough times. Today is 33 years since the release of Mr India and it’s message is still as important, if not more so. Be kind to each other, do the right thing; life may get tough, but in the end, good will prevail. ‘Zindagi Ki Yehi Reet Hai
Haar Ke Baad Hi Jeet Hai
Thode Aansu Hai, Thodi Hasi Aaj Gham Hai To Kal Hai Khushi’"
Besides Anil, the film's director Shekhar Kapur too celebrated the movie by retweeting a fellow artist's tribute to 'Mr India'.

The 1987 film featured Anil Kapoor and Sridevi in lead roles. It also starred Amrish Puri as the iconic villain Mogambo. The movie was directed by Shekhar Kapur and produced by Boney Kapoor. The film turned out to be an evergreen classic as movie buffs love the characters of Mr India, Mogambo and Calendar even today. It also starred child artists like Aftab Shivdasani and Ahmed Khan who grew up to be great artists. And each and every song from the movie remains the favourite of many who grew up in the 90s.
