A South African man shocked people when he walked into a
Sunnyside police station shortly before midnight on Wednesday and told
officers that an evil spirit had ordered him to kill his mother.
According to Daily Sun SA, Sunnyside police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela on Thursday said that when officers went to the suspect's flat in Sunnyside, east of Pretoria, they made a gruesome discovery.
"They found the body of [the] suspect's mother lying in a pool of blood," he said.
"It is suspected that the deceased died from multiples stab
wounds that were inflicted with a knife that was recovered from the
scene."
Mavimbela said the suspect, 31, walked into the police station late on Wednesday.
"[He] informed the police that he had been ordered by an evil spirit to kill his own mother, 57."
The suspect was set to be charged with murder and would then appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court.
