Earlier this month, Nick Cannon assured "Extra" there was no truth to reports he had yet to sign off on Mariah Carey's divorce papers because he wanted to keep her from walking down the aisle with James Packer.
"Why would I hold it up?" he asked. "I want her to be happy." Now, Nick's offering a little more insight to the situation. On June 16, he released a freestyle rap called "Divorce Papers," which ultimately reveals he's decided to sign the documents looming over his marriage.
The track covers Nick's relationship with Mariah and their kids as well as his frustration with the media's representation of their split. "When y'all need help/ y'all call me/ When I need help, y'all call TMZ/ and y'all believe everything that you see," he rhymes (via E! News).
"We single now but we really need to think about is how a child deals/ how a child feels/ because we got two and they brilliant for real,"
Nick raps at another point. But it's this lyric that makes us want to hug the guy:
"My daughter said daddy why your eyes in tears/ because last time I dropped your brother off I didn't get a call the next day and it felt like years/ and Ima be honest/ sometimes I hate to hear you're on the other line having fun without me/ I wonder if my son will ever doubt me.../ What's love I don't care about it I just want my kids to be safe."
