A cannabis farm with a proportion of 100 hectares, has been destroyed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) under the Delta State Command.
On Monday, June 27, 2016, by Mr. Dennis Chidi Obiefule, the Delta State Commander of NDLEA, during a lecture delivered at the 2016 United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse, held in the state.
The lecture, which was held at the Urhobo Cultural Centre in Warri, had the theme ‘Listen First’.
In his address, the commander mentioned that his team are not going to relent on its efforts to combat drug abuse in the state.
According to him, his command has convicted thirty-one within the last one year.
Obiefule said, “Since the early ‘90s, Nigeria has experienced an up scourge in drug trafficking and abuse. Those involved are only interested in the proceeds from the illicit business.
“As regards prosecution, 31 convictions were recorded while 17 dealers were cancelled in the year in review. Our men have also discovered a cannabis farm in Ndokwa West, covering over 100 hectares of land which was destroyed.”
His report was no different from other state commands, such as Ogun and Ondo states, who also recorded success in their battle against drug trafficking.
