We didn’t think WizKid would lose out on this award but he did. Yes WizKid, AKA, Caspper Nyovest, Yemi Alade and Diamond Platnumz were beaten out by South African DJ and record producer, Black Coffee. It’s a result that will shock a lot of fans, but maybe it really shouldn’t.
Last year, Black Coffee released his 5th album, Pieces of Me, and got a lot of positive reviews. In 2015 and 2016, his profile internationally has risen hitting up spots all over the world.
The award was announced via social media via BET Africa’s handle. Falz earlier today was announced at the winner of the viewer’s choice Best New Act.
