Following the confusion about the proposed nationwide strike action to be embarked by the National Labour Congress (NLC) today, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state has released an official statement urging Lagosians to go about their normal business activities in line with the injunction issued by the Industrial court.
The NLC is divided into factions with one faction saying they've reached an agreement with the Federal government, hence no strike again while the other faction say the planned strike
would commence today despite yesterday's ruling of the National Industrial Court in Abuja which barred the NLC from proceeding with the strike action today.
Governor Ambode's statement was released via his official website and shared via his official handle (@AkinwunmiAmbode) on Twitter. Screenshots below:
Labour decided on the strike action due to the recent upward price modification of Petrol by the Federal Government from N86.50 to N145 without a concurrent increase in the minimum wage or other economic palliatives.
