A growing number of Iranian
women are beginning to cut their hair and even dress as men in public so as to
escape the country’s morality police who arrest and enforce penalties on ladies
who go out in public without their hijab or headscarf, as required of them by
law.
These women are even bold
enough to post their shaven hair on social media and pose for juornalists. This new trend follows a larger trend of
Muslim women taking to social media to push back against sartorial laws dictating
what parts of their body they can – and can’t – show.
