Feelers from M-Net, the
production company of the pan-African reality TV show Big Brother Africa, suggest
that the show might be cancelled for a second consecutive year.
The annual controversial show
which sees contestants from 14 African countries being housed together for a
period of three months, vying for a US$300,000 prize money, was cancelled last year to the dismay of its millions of fans. The reason for its
cancellation was given as failure to secure sponsors.
Hopes by fans that the beloved
reality show would make a return this year seem destined to be
dashed as M-net
has released a statement saying Big Brother 2016 is currently undergoing an examination as they intend to
strategically re-position the African show to align with its goals and
directions.
