The Nation reports that the mother of one of the three school girls abducted from Babington Macauley Junior Seminary (BMJS) Ikorodu, Lagos on Monday has been hospitalized after slumping yesterday morning.
Timilehin Olosa, Tofunmi Popoolaniyan and Deborah Akinayo were
abducted on Monday night by 10 men during prep after they had reportedly
entered the school compound through a gaping hole in the school’s
fence. The kidnappers , who initially demanded a
ransom of N200 million
for the release of the girls , reduced the money to N60 million on
Wednesday. The woman reported to have been demanded to pay N10 million
for the release of her own daughter despite her pleas that she was only
able to gather and raise N1 million.
The woman reportedly slumped after the girls were not freed Friday
morning as promised by security agencies. She was said to have been on a
dry fast for four days for God to intervene in the matter.
A source stated:
”the woman had high hopes that the girls would be rescued last
night but when the kidnappers insisted on N10million, the woman whose
family has raised a million Naira collapsed. She was rushed to a
hospital on the mainland where they live. She was hospitalised but much
later, she returned home.”
The Lagos State Police command’s spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, said,
however, that she had not been aware of the collapse and assured that
the police had intensified their efforts to rescue the girls. She added
that she was hopeful they will be rescued soon and reunited with their
loved ones.
