The recent fuel scarcity in the
country would soon be a thing of the past as the NNPC in-house unionists
(PENGASSAN and NUPENG) just called off the two day old strike after a session
with the Minister of state for Petroleum and GMD of NNPC, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu.
The Unionists sent out a press
release this afternoon to announce that they have reached an agreement with the
minister and are now ready to support his restructuring of the NNPC. Recall the
unionists embarked on the strike action because they claimed they were not
carried along in the policy change after Kachikwu announced last week that the
NNPC would be re-structured into seven sub-groups so as to make the petroleum
more viable and efficient.
