Since the early
hours of this morning, there was heavy chaos at Agiliti area of Mile 12
after members of the Community and Hausa Okada riders engaged in a free
for all fight. Broken bottles and burnt tyres can be seen on the road
but no confirmation of any casualty though some reports have it that at least four people have been killed.
Although the army and police are currently there to contain the situation, fighting was still reported to be going on as smoke could be seen coming out of Agility community.
Different versions of what started the riot have emerged but it can be gleaned that the unrest
had started since Tuesday and it finally reahed a climax on today with heavy fighting between the Hausa and Yoruba communities of the market community which stalled movement of people and vehicles along the Ikorodu road before police and the military were deployed to maintain peace and order.
As at 4:00pm, relative calm had returned to the area as heavily armed officers patrolled the area. The Lagos state government has also shut the market and has vowed to deal with miscreants in the area.
