FIFA has revealed today that South Africa bribed the Sepp Blatter-led administration with about $10 million in 2010 before the 2010 World Cup hosting right was awarded to them.
This shocking information was revealed by new FIFA administrators who confirmed that an e-mail communication uncovered by the FBI between then South Africa President, Thabo Mbeki and Sepp Blatter where a deal of $10 million was agreed on in 2007 towards the awarding of the 2010 world cup hosting rights to South Africa. Much of the money landed in
the pockets of Jack Wagner who was the FIFA Vice President then.
The new FIFA administrators are now calling for the return of the tens of millions of dollars siphoned from the association by the former corrupt officials.
Speaking about illegal acts, the new FIFA president, Gianni Infantino said:
"They caused serious and lasting damage to Fifa, its member associations and the football community.
"The monies they pocketed belonged to global football and were meant for the development and promotion of the game.
"Fifa
as the world governing body of football wants that money back and we
are determined to get it no matter how long it takes."
