A former Assistant Comptroller General of the Nigeria Fire Service, Dada
Olatunji, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) for allegedly scamming two job seekers who were seeking employment in the federal comimission.
According to a petition written by the two job applicants, Robert Mathew and
Theresa Abah, an official of the Nyanya division of the fire service,
Christopher Adaje, had told them in December 2014 of a recruitment
exercise and promised to secure employment for them by
April 2015 if
they could provide N350,000 each.
The two being desperately in need of the job, borrowed money from family and friends to make up the said amount, with Abah paying N225,000 and Matthew, N350,000 making N575,000 which was paid into the back account of Adaje.
However, when they were not given the employment as promised after some months, they visited the office of Adaje, only to discover that
it was a fraud.
When he was arrested, Adaje confessed to the EFCC that he was a frontman
for Olatunji and that the money was given to Olatunji. The two suspects
will be charged to court soon.
