A 25-year-old convicted armed robber,
Rasak Ogedengbe, has been sentenced to death by hanging for stealing money,
wristwatches and phones from one Mr. Chukwujekwu in Ejigbo, Lagos.
According to Nigerian Tribune,
Mr. Ogedengbe was accused of attacking the family of Mr. Chukwujekwu who just
returned from church at Ejigbo and carted away some of their valuables, which
included money, wrist watches and phones.
Chukwujekwu reported the robbery
to the Ejigbo police station and Ogedengbe was later nabbed by the police.
The police searched Ogedengbe and
found some of the valuables stolen from the victim
In court, Ogedengbe pleaded not
guilty to the offence but could not produce any witness while the prosecution called
two witnesses to testify and all their evidence were taken by the court.
For the verdict, the presiding
judge, Hon. Justice Olabisi Akinlade said that Ogedengbe was accused of
criminal conspiracy and armed robbery under section 403 and 402 of the criminal
code, law of Lagos state 2003.
