Ruling
on the bail application, Justice John Tsoho ordered that the Director
of Radio Biafra and two other accused persons be remanded in Kuje prison
pending their trial.
The judge gave the reason why he could not grant Nnamdi Kanu bail as thus:
The judge said he isn't convinced that Nnamdi will stop the agitation for Biafra if given bail. He also isn't convinced that Kanu is a changed person as he has continually claimed he was exercising his right
He also said the fact that Kanu has dual citizenship makes it easy for him to jump bail and skip the country
So instead of granting him bail, what he can do for him is to accelerate his hearing daily.
And fixed next hearings for February 9, 10 & 11

This way he can be sentenced or released on time.
Earlier,
a mild drama, however, ensued among the defence team as Nnamdi Kanu
addressed a personal handwritten letter to Justice Tsoho, saying he has
two lawyers- Chuks Mouma and Ifeanyi Ejiofor.
Kanu
in the letter to the court alleged that one of the counsels on the
defence team, M. U. Udechukwu who argued for his bail in the last
hearing was not his counsel of choice.
Udechekwu, in his response to the letter disclose his intention to withdraw from the team of the defence counsels.
