Lagos State government is set to ban all sorts of street trading in the state of the aquatic splendor as well as arrest street hawkers in renewed efforts by the government in making sure that citizens of Lagos abide by every environmental rules and regulation in order not to incur the wrath of environmental agencies.
The Media learnt that the States Commissioner for Environment, Dr Babatunde Adejare regret how Lagosians converts roads, median, set- backs and walk away into markets and lamented the activities of the illegal street traders which invariably destroys the environment and valuable infrastructures put in place with tax payers money.
“Despite various enlightenment and advocacies of the public affairs and advocacy teams of the Ministry and despite millions of naira spent by the government on environmental regeneration to improve the aesthetics of the state, I regret to say that street traders and hawkers have been found to be responsible for the vandalisation and defacing of some of the parks and garden and government will no longer take such degradations any longer” Adejare concludes
