Senate Spokesperson, Senator Dino Melaye seemed to have bitten more than he can chew when he decided to take on New York-based Nigerian online newspaper, Sahara Reporters.
Dino Melaye had in the last plenary session used Sahara Reporters as a scape goat while addressing the much talked about ''anti-social media'' bill. He also called on the US government to sanction the online news agency which operates from New York.
Sahara Reporters, known for their bold, no-holds-barred investigative journalism, has immediately hit back at Senator Melaye by disclosing details about his bank account in America that he still operates.
This is illegal as every law-maker is not supposed to operate a foreign bank account while in office as it is against the law. The law states that even if they owned one before being elected, all operations on such foreign bank accounts must cease till after they must have left office.
