Omokri, former Special Assistant on New Media to ex-President Goodluck
Jonathan, took to twitter to express his views on the proposed anti-social media
bill that passed second hearing on the Senate floor on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.
Omokri says his former boss, Goodluck Jonathan would never entertain such a bill from the Senate.
He added that several slanderous and false statements were made about
the ex-president
but he never thought of tampering with the freedom of
speech of the electorates even to the detriment of his political career.
He also subtly implied that this proposed gagging of free speech is a repercussion for voting for change in the April polls.
I call on the Senate to take a cue from ex-Pres Jonathan who faced false reports yet NEVER tampered with Free Speech #FOIisheretostay

Jonathan, at huge political cost to himself, signed Freedom of Information to law. Senate should let sleeping dogs lie! #FOIisheretostay — Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) December 4, 2015
Throughout Jonathan’s presidency, no one was jailed for speaking his mind. The Senate should not reversed that legacy #FOIisheretostay.

What I know is that ex Pres. Jonathan would never sign such a law if it passes and I believe President Buhari wont either #FOIisheretostay — Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) December 4, 2015
To the Social Media community: When you cook soup with cannibals you have no one to blame if they use you as meat #FOIisheretostay
