The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, has been closed down indefinitely, following continued protests by students over poor hostel conditions.
The students had been protesting for two days now over what they described as poor living conditions in their halls of residence. According to them, these conditions include: epilieptic power and water supply, which had made the campus unconducive for learning.
However, the University's Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, has refuted the claim that the institution had been shut down indefinitely; saying instead that the authorities only gave the students a mid-semester break.
