The envoy of the United nations sent to Libya has proposed the formation of a national unity government after many months of unsuccessful tasks.
Libya has had two rival parliaments since 2014. One is an Islamist backed one and the other is the internationally recognized one.
Legislators from both sides have however disagreed on the statement. Many have rejected the request and called it unwise.
"We are not part of this proposed government. It means nothing to us and we were not consulted", said Abdulsalam Bilashahir of the General National Congress in Tripoli.
Mr Leon, who is part of the UN envoy from the UN who made the call and announced that Fayez Sarraj would be nominated prime minister, said he believed the proposed ministers for the unity government can work.
