Nkem Anekwe, the elder sister of Oluchi Anekwe, said that her
sister would have been alive had she been treated by the medical personnel in
UNILAG medical centre.
She went on to say that Oluchi and her other sister, Uju,
were returning from evening mass when a high tension wire fell on them. They
were holding hands when the wire fell on Oluchi’s left arm. This resulted in
both of them being electrocuted. Oluchi lost consciousness immediately while
Uju was able to call for help. They were immediately rushed to the school’s
medical centre. On getting there, both ladies were alive.
Nkem said that she got to know of the incident about an hour
later. On getting to the medical centre, Oluchi was still alive. It got
disturbing when the medical personnel refused to treat them because they didn't
have any form of identification on them.
Earlier today, we reported that the FG sent a technical team
to investigate what went down.
Sanctioning the medical personnel of the medical
centre is a starting point.
