Celeb Dirty Laundry says Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s relationship was fake from the start, designed as a public relations stunt for the Twilight movies. Celeb Dirty Laundry says a lot of things that aren’t true.
According to the outlet’s latest speculation, Stewart’s friendship with Alicia Cargile “calls into question” whether her long time with Pattinson was just a “PR showmance.” The site wonders, “Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson dated for several years, but was their relationship ever really a ‘relationship’ or was it just a convenient PR showmance designed to sell the Twilight movies to the gullible movie-going public?”
CDL says Stewart and Pattinson never showed enough PDA to make it clear that their romance was real. “A reasonable explanation is that Kristen just didn’t give a damn about her relationship with Rob, and was just going through the motions for the sake of publicity,” says the webloid.
Later, the article’s author declares, “I think many people have concluded that Rob and Kristen were never really the ‘Robsten’ that their adoring fans concocted for them. In fact, it’s much more likely that they were colleagues thrown into a crazy situation together and trying to make the best of it, and offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity if they just sucked it up and played ball with creating a showmance.”
The people who have “concluded” this are know-nothings. It’s long been a favorite narrative of clueless tabloids. Pattinson and Stewart dated for a while, and then they stopped dating. Because their relationship more or less coincided with the Twilight run, lazy conspiracy theorists like to say it was all fake, even though there was no contemporary evidence for that.
Oh, and by the way… why is CDL suddenly saying Stewart and Pattinson faked their relationship for years, when the site has repeatedly in recent weeks reported that Stewart and Pattinson may reconcile. Just a few days ago, the site claimed Pattinson might break up with FKA Twigs to reunite with Stewart. So… none of this makes the least bit of sense, even in the internal “logic” of CDL’s fantasy world. The blog needs to do better than spread a new version of an old, ridiculous “showmance” rumor.
