Governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, allegedly walked out of a meeting with the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu and some party leaders held with the governorship aspirants of the APC in Ekiti State, on Tuesday.

Some of the party leaders in attendance were: Pioneer chairman of the party, Bisi Akande; Former Ogun Governor, Segun Osoba; Former Ekiti Governor, Niyi Adebayo and zonal vice chairman of the APC in the south-west, Pius Akinyelure.

After about two hours, there was a break and Fayemi walked out of the room ahead of other aspirants and party leaders. He ignored reporters who approached him, entered his car and his driver sped off.

Akande, however, addressed reporters afterwards, stating that the outcome of the meeting would be presented to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

“Primary election is already written in our constitution but all we want is the happiness of the generality of the leadership, the contestants and our party in general.
“We took a decision on what will be the best advantage to our party and the country. Consensus is already written in our constitution and it is an option,” he said.

Fayemi is currently apiring for the post of the governor in Ekiti State and in a recent rally in Ado-Ekiti, he mentioned that he still has unfinished business in the government house and that his party, The All Progressive Congress is ready to defeat the People's Democratic Party of the incumbent governor, Ayodele Fayose.
Kayode Fayemi was just over the weekend accused by a certain group of threatening to cripple the state if he does not win the party’s ticket for the July 14 gubernatorial election.
A group loyal to another aspirant, Babafemi Ojudu, The Ekiti Rebirth Organisation (ERO), had accused Fayemi of making the threat.
Reacting through Yinka Oyebode, his spokesman, Fayemi described the allegation as “a lie from the pit of hell.”
He added:

“The pertinent question to ask the ERO group is where exactly did the minister, Dr Kayode Fayemi make the statement. The ERO group is known for their maniacal penchant for fabricating falsehood in the name of propaganda.
“Dr Fayemi never said a thing like that. And if you know his antecedent as a political activist who believes in the rule of law, you will agree with me that the minister is too refined to make such a statement. ERO and its leader, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, are best described as mischief makers. And judging from their actions and utterances so far, you know they are the ones planning to shoot down the state, through their desperation.
